ITS MONTHLY TALKIN' TECH

More Info: The CCAC Content Management System

The Content Management System has been designed for CCAC so that department staff can easily update content for publication to the web.  The CMS system does not require special skills in html programming or FrontPage.  Following are some screen shots and descriptions of how content is updated using the CMS.  For more information on the CMS system or training, contact the webteam at (412) 237-8195.

PAGE EDIT

If you are responsible for editing and/or approving web content

within your area, you will be able to view all your pages,

as they are organized on the web site.  You can add pages

or sub-pages at the click of a button.

You can move pages within your area to alter the

navigational structure of your pages.

CONTENT EDITING

Adding or modifying content is almost as simple

as editing a Word document.  In fact,

you can cut, copy and paste from Word

or another software program very easily.

There are buttons for formatting text and

paragraphs.  You can add a simple table,

or copy a table from Word or Excel.

You can insert objects (pictures) that you

have uploaded to the web site.

There are tools for creating links to:

> Other pages on the website

> External web pages

> Anchors (bookmarks) on your page

> Email address

> Word, pdf or other documents that

you have uploaded to the web site

You can preview your page at any time, and

submit for approval when done.

FILE MANAGEMENT

You can easily upload Word, pdf, or other documents to the web site.

Just name the file, browse to its location on your hard drive or network

directory, specify the file type, and upload.

FILE MANAGEMENT

Content Managers can view all files

that have been uploaded to the web site.

All users can view the files that they

have personally uploaded.

The files can be filtered by type,

and sorted for more convenient

viewing of the files.

APPROVAL

Approval of web pages in your area takes just a click of the Approve button.  Pages can be rejected if not correct just as easily.

EMAIL NOTIFICATION

Every step of the submission, approval and publication process are

documented by email messages to all content editors and managers

in your area of responsibility.  You will always know the status

of your web page submission.

Training is available for web content editors and managers. You can sign up through the EnrollMe process.

Training schedule for May/ June 2003
